MENLO IDOL WINNER, Stacy Carter!

Stacy Carter has enjoyed a successful singing career that has crossed genres as well as the Pacific Ocean.

Born in San Mateo, California, Stacy's singing career began in the San Francisco Bay Area when her mother entered her in the California Miss Pageant System. She enjoyed the spotlight so much that throughout her school years she sang in her school choir and in numerous onstage musical productions. Her professional singing career began during her senior year of high school when she performed regularly at Great America in Santa Clara, California. She also ran for Miss San Jose, where she was 4th runner up.

After moving to Southern California and singing locally in the Los Angeles club scene, Stacy's career took on an international flavor when she moved to Japan. During her three-year stint in Tokyo, Stacy opened for popular groups such as “Klymaxx” and “Lakeside”. She also sang with numerous Japanese and American acts, performed on TV, in clubs, and at the world famous Budokan. She has recorded an album, performed voiceovers for commercials, and also modeled. While in Japan, Stacy's love for singing jazz standards began to blossom.

Since returning to the United States, Stacy has continued her singing career performing at the “KCSM Jazz On The Hill” Jazz Festival, Villa Montalvo, Stone Pine Estate in Carmel Valley, Brio Bistro in San Mateo, The Fairmont in San Jose and San Francisco, The Headly Lounge at the De Anza Hotel in San Jose, The Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay and San Francisco, as well as, Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore. Stacy has also performed with Joel Nelson Productions and All Star Music where she performs for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and holiday parties of all types.

Stacy has trained with Madeline Eastman’s Jazz Vocal workshop at The Berkeley School of Jazz. There she met and began working with Raz Kennedy, jazz vocalist extraordinaire, formerly of Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra. She has also studied under Nate Pruitt of Primary Colors.

Stacy spent time in the studio completing work on her CD. She had the pleasure of performing with jazz drummer legend N’dugu Chancler, bassist Ron Belcher, and pianist Glenn Pearson. Her smooth sultry jazz vocals blend effortlessly with the sweet sounds of this jazz trio.

On May 13, 2009 Stacy auditioned to compete in a vocal jazz competition at a restaurant in Menlo Park, Marqs. After 9 weeks of competition, Stacy won the competition and will now be seen performing at Marqs every Thursday night as her prize!
